I made this photograph while walking around Baltimore, Maryland with my wife.
As you can see the building stands tall among the clouds, and what clouds they were that day.
The photograph was originally in color but I wanted to bring out the details, reflections and smoothness. It’s a unique mix in one frame but going monochrome was the best way to achieve the result.
So as you can see the sky is dark with puffy white clouds. The round building has smooth glass but also lines and textures.
Camera: Nikon D700
Lens: Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 at 32mm
Exposure: 1/800 f/3.5 ISo 100
Processing: Adobe Lightroom & Nik Silver Efex Pro
Photographs like this are a perfect example of why letting shadows clip to the point where the black areas have no detail, can work in a photograph’s favor.
Thanks for reading and happy shooting,
