Thomas Alma Moulton Barn

The T.A. Moulton Barn is at Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park. What was once a working farm is now a tourist attractive and historical landmark.

I was happy to have had the chance to visit the location and photograph the barn during sunrise and also in the middle of the night. The photos you see here are from the sunrise visit.

For that first photograph, I wanted to capture the barn close up and include some of the trees that sit between the barn and where tourists must stand.

One thing I learned about this area is that quite often bison happens to walk by. We waited a while after sunrise, hoping to see bison doing their thing.

But none came.

The next photo was the moment the golden sunrise light went from touching the mountains to illuminating the barn.

Talk about a beautiful view!

While standing there photographing this scene, I kept thinking how neat it must have been to have lived on this property, when it was a working farm and see the mountains in the distance and the sunrises and sunsets every day.

So amazing.

  1. This would be the spot where I saw tourists walk up and POSE with the BISON during mating season. I was pretty sure one of them was going to die. Thankfully, no one was hurt – but I did inform the dad that had his young (maybe 5-6 years old) daughter pose by the male bison that that was a bad idea!

That barn is so gorgeous. Really, all of it is. I love the Grand Tetons – they are magical!
