After writing my comparison of photography and karate and then publishing a free eBook of the content, I was asked back to photograph more karate photographs.
This sessions had a lot of live sparring that resulted in some pretty intense images.
You can see in this photograph the focus on both of their faces.
Photographing such a sport requires focus on the photographer’s part and an understanding of the artform.
I was fortunate to have experience with karate from when I was younger. However it also helps to have photographed it before.
The only downside to photographing a sessions like this is determining what to do with the background. It was decided to use a paper background, but next time it might be different. Unfortunately wrinkles begin to show as people move fast and sweat hits the floor.
At the end of the day, though, the photos get the job done.
Thanks for reading and happy shooting,
Scott
