A Sign that Led Me to My Passion

New Jersey Street Photographer 0043

It was April in New Jersey, with a booming 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and the kids were on Spring Break from school. So my wife and I took them to the beach for the day. We enjoyed the sun and sand for a couple of hours before it was time for lunch.

We started walking back to the boardwalk to get food. I had on a wide-brim sun hat and sunglasses. My eyes are very sensitive to light. So when I’m on the beach, I go to the extreme to protect my eyes from the blazing sun.

I lowered my head slightly as I trailed behind my son, walking off the sand. Suddenly, BAM!

I walked directly into a sign. My peripheral was relatively narrow with my head down, paying attention to my son and the hat’s wide brim. I could barely see what was in front of me. Needless to say, that impact caught me off-guard.

So why am I sharing this embarrassing story with you?

Well, think of this story metaphorically. You see, historically, I have photographed a variety of things for clients. I never picked a niche. Until one was chosen for me. When the pandemic started, and I started offering porch family sessions like so much of the photography world, I was asked to photograph a surprise proposal. Having proposed to my (then girlfriend) wife and both recorded and photographed it secretly, I was very much into helping others do the same.

So I researched the location, scouted it out, used PhotoPills to help determine lighting conditions and angles, and helped plan the special moment.

It was a success!

I was then asked to do the same for another person. So I went through my new preparation process and then photographed that momentous time.

I realized how much I loved photographing proposals, even with the immense pressure. So, I made a YouTube video about it. I blogged about it. I emailed my list about it. Suddenly, I started ranking exceptionally well on Google for surprise proposal photography in New Jersey.

So why am I sharing this story with you?

I continued looking forward. Straight towards where this faint bound pivot took me. Finally, a niche.

Do I still take on a family session, headshots, or cake smashes? Do I still do the occasional wedding? Of course I do. But now, I have a photographic niche that I genuinely enjoy doing for clients.

Always looking forward.

At Imagen, we understand that life can throw curveballs at us. We get the need to pivot and shift along the way. Your branding might change over time. Most likely, it will. Your photo editing style will also evolve.

That’s why Imagen’s Personal AI Profiles learn from you. We call it fine-tuning. But this isn’t a real-time action. It happens over extended periods because AI requires a lot of data to see a meaningful change.

We have a solution for this long-term fine-tuning effort. Something short-term and real-time.

We call it Profile Adjustments

With this feature, you can specify any changes you require with relative or fixed values. For example, if you need your red saturation at a specific value every time, no matter what, then cool. Use Profile Adjustments, and it will happen.

Now your edits from Imagen can go from 80% ready to 98% ready. Or whatever your unique percentage might be.

Don’t use a Personal AI Profile? Imagen has your back! The Profile Adjustments feature also works with Talent AI Profiles.

Margo Franklyn is a fantastic boudoir photographer in Atlanta, Georgia. She uses the Talent AI Profile, Tierra from Fer Juaristi. But she always makes a few final adjustments after Imagen edits her photos. One reason is she doesn’t want any added grain to her photos. So now Margo can specify her grain level, which in this case is zero, and not have to worry about that post-edit anymore.

Cool, right?

This feature also works with Personal AI Profiles shared with you.

Even cooler, right?

Feel free to shift and pivot if the opportunity presents itself. Always look forward.

Open the Imagen all today and give Profile Adjustments a try.

With Imagen, you are always in control of your creativity.

Once you have tried Profile Adjustments, share your thoughts about it in the Imagen Community.
