Your Right to Privacy – New Jersey Proposal Photography

Proposal Photography Privacy

As a photographer specializing in proposals and capturing couples’ stories, I’ve always believed that your images are yours first. I’m deeply honoured to be invited to document such a significant and intimate moment in your relationship, and I want you to feel 100% comfortable every step of the way – including when it comes to privacy.

In today’s world, I understand that privacy is increasingly important. Perhaps you want to keep the surprise under wraps until you’ve told everyone personally, maybe one or both of you have public-facing careers or sensitive roles, or you simply prefer to keep this incredibly personal event more private online. Whatever your reason, I’m here to respect it.

How I Handle Privacy

All of my sessions include a standard model release, which gives me permission to share your images on my website, social media, and other marketing materials. Sharing this work is how I grow my business and how other couples on the cusp of engagement find me. I’m so grateful when couples trust me enough to showcase their unique story – it truly means the world.

That said, your privacy always comes first, and I offer a few options so you can choose what’s right for you:

  • Zero Share Policy – If you prefer that your images are kept entirely private, I’m more than happy to honour that. Your online gallery will be secured with a password, and none of your images will be posted anywhere publicly.
  • Selective Sharing – Some couples are comfortable sharing some aspects of their proposal but not everything. Maybe you’d like to wait until after you’ve announced the engagement yourselves before any photos go public? Or perhaps you’re okay with me sharing detail shots (like the ring, hands clasped) or wider shots where faces aren’t the main focus, but prefer closer portraits remain private. We can absolutely tailor the sharing plan to your comfort level.
  • Full Sharing with Flexibility If you’re comfortable with me sharing your session publicly after the big news is out, thank you! I’ll always use your images with care and respect. And if at any time you change your mind, just let me know – I’ll take them down right away, no questions asked.

There’s no extra cost for privacy. Whatever level of sharing you choose, it’s all about what makes you feel best.

A Quick Note About AI

I never share your personal images for AI training, ever. However, I do use Adobe software to edit, and Adobe may anonymously source data from edited images as part of its general service. If you ever want more details on this, feel free to reach out – I’m happy to chat through it.

I also use Imagen to help with with culling and editing process, making it more efficient so I can deliver your beautiful photos faster. Imagen does not sell or distribute your photos to anyone. The work I send to Imagen is only used to make its AI learn my editing style better.

If you have any concerns about my use of AI, please get in touch.

Thank You for Your Trust

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate being able to share my work. Every image I post helps other couples find me, and helps me keep doing what I love – capturing these incredible, once-in-a-lifetime moments. But more importantly, I’m here to serve you and capture your unique love story, in whatever way feels right.

Thank you for letting me be part of your story, whether it stays just between us or helps inspire others. 💛

If you have any questions about privacy or anything else, I’m always just an email away.

  1. Isn’t it funny how the idea of privacy has become a luxury these days? This photographer acts like keeping photos private is groundbreaking when it should be standard practice. Who doesn’t want their engagement photos shared everywhere?

  2. ‘Zero Share Policy’ sounds like something out of a spy movie! I mean, come on! If you’re getting engaged, why not let the world celebrate with you? It’s comical how serious some people take their photo rights.

  3. This article highlights an important aspect of photography that is often overlooked: client privacy. Offering different levels of sharing shows an understanding of diverse needs. Photographers must adapt to their clients’ preferences and this post demonstrates that well.

  4. I absolutely love the emphasis on privacy in this article! It’s so refreshing to see a photographer who values their clients’ comfort as much as capturing beautiful moments. This approach makes me want to book a session immediately!

  5. While I appreciate the intention behind this post, I can’t help but think it’s a bit excessive. In an age where sharing life events online is common, why would anyone want to keep such a joyful moment completely private?

I truly appreciate the emphasis on privacy in your approach to photography. It shows a deep respect for your clients’ wishes, especially during such a personal moment like a proposal. It’s refreshing to see a photographer who prioritizes comfort and consent over publicity. Your options for sharing images are thoughtful and flexible, making it easy for couples to choose what suits them best.

I agree with Sterling! It’s nice to see that you really care about how couples feel about sharing their special moments. Too many photographers are just after the likes and shares. Your approach is truly commendable!

    2. While I understand the importance of privacy, shouldn’t every photographer aim to share their best work? It feels like you’re limiting your potential audience by being overly cautious.

I love that you’ve thought about AI in your process as well! It’s good to see photographers being transparent about tech usage in editing while also respecting privacy concerns regarding personal images.

As someone who has dealt with invasive situations online, I completely resonate with the photographer’s emphasis on privacy while capturing engagements. The reassurance given by offering different levels of sharing allows couples to feel safe and respected during what can be a very vulnerable time in their lives.

It’s great that you respect your clients’ comfort levels! Just ensure that your editing process doesn’t compromise quality for speed.

    2. Lyric Avatar

The importance of consent in photography cannot be overstated! Thank you for making this your priority!

“Zero Share Policy” sounds great in theory, but let’s be real – if no one sees your work, how do you expect future clients to trust you? You can’t have it both ways unless you’re independently wealthy or something.

  10. Your commitment to respecting privacy while still capturing beautiful moments is inspiring! It’s so important nowadays when everyone shares so much online without thinking about it first.

    1. Isaac Avatar

It’s refreshing indeed! But one has to wonder – isn’t there value in sharing those memories publicly too? Why not showcase the joy and love?

  11. Isaac Avatar

‘Zero Share Policy’? Sounds too paranoid for my taste. If you’re going through the effort of hiring someone for such an important event, why hide it away like it’s some state secret? Life is meant to be shared!

    1. Anonymous

I think you’re missing the point; many people value their privacy even in joyous moments.

    2. I disagree; there’s no harm in being cautious about how personal moments are shared with the world.

Honestly, I’m not impressed by this article at all. It reads more like a marketing pitch than genuine advice for couples looking to get engaged. The focus seems heavily tilted towards how you can benefit rather than how the couple can enjoy their experience.

  13. Honestly, I find this post quite ridiculous. Why would anyone hire a photographer if they’re so concerned about privacy? If you’re getting engaged, shouldn’t you be proud to share that moment with others? Seems like too much fuss over nothing.

  14. This whole thing just feels like overkill to me. If someone wants pictures taken, they should be happy to share them online! Why all these restrictions? Seems like a way of hiding behind ‘respect’ when it’s really just complicating things.

  15. Lorelei

Wow! A photographer who actually respects client wishes regarding privacy? That’s almost unheard of these days! Kudos for standing out from other professionals who might disregard personal preferences just to build their portfolio.

    1. Zachary

A little dramatic don’t you think? Not every photographer disregards personal preferences; maybe just those starting out?

    2. I totally agree! Respecting boundaries sets such a positive tone right from the start!

  16. I absolutely love the way you prioritize privacy in your photography business! It’s refreshing to see a photographer who understands that not everyone wants their intimate moments shared publicly. The options you provide for sharing are very thoughtful and considerate. This approach not only respects the couple’s wishes but also creates a trusting environment. I believe this will make couples feel more at ease during such a significant occasion.

    1. While I appreciate the focus on privacy, it seems a bit excessive to need so many options. Why not just go with a simple model release? It feels like overkill for something that should be straightforward.

    2. Serena Avatar

This is an excellent approach! In an age where privacy is often overlooked, it’s great to see someone who values it so highly.

  17. Celine Avatar

What I found interesting is how you balance between business growth and client privacy. Many photographers overlook this aspect entirely. The fact that you offer multiple sharing options allows couples to have control over their memories, which is quite rare in the industry.

    1. “Balance” is an interesting word choice here; it seems more like you’re leaning towards what benefits you more rather than focusing on what makes couples feel comfortable first.

  18. This article sheds light on an important aspect of modern photography—privacy! It’s nice to know that photographers are becoming aware of their clients’ needs and concerns regarding public exposure of personal moments. I especially appreciate the detailed explanation of sharing policies, as it allows couples to make informed choices about how they want their memories documented.

    1. ‘Privacy-first’ sounds great in theory, but how many couples really think about these issues before hiring someone? Maybe it’s just me, but most would probably prefer just getting beautiful pictures without all this extra worry.

    2. ‘Selective Sharing’ is such a smart idea! It shows sensitivity towards clients’ feelings and gives them control over their special memories.
