Top Photo Spots: Asbury Park Boardwalk

Asbury Park Boardwalk

There is so much history at the Asbury Park Boardwalk, including the convention center, pinball museum, and the casino (the shell at least).  Just off the boardwalk is the Stone Pony, where some of the most famous bands stop by and play, including Bruce Springsteen.

The Asbury Park boardwalk is not very large, and can be walked in less than an hour.  However, with so much happening and the amazing architecture, photographers can easily spend a day walking up and down the boards.

Superstorm Sandy really put a dent in the Asbury Park boardwalk, but the town is rebuilding what was damaged and protecting the historic structures.

Other Highlights Nearby

The town of Asbury Park has many shops and restaurants worth seeing.  There is usually enough street life to make some street photographs as well.  Go during a holiday and you’re likely to see people dressed up, or a parade of some sort.  Definitely check out the zombie walk for the most interesting street photography.

Asbury Park is a New Jersey shore town that has seen a high population, a low and now it’s growing once more. Spend an entire day walking around, making photographs and then head to the beach for some sun, surf and swimming.

Where To Stay

There are many hotels in the area, but I recommend trying to find a townhouse or condo to rent if you plan on spending a few days in Asbury Park.

Where To Eat

Photographers need to eat, and Asbury Park is full of amazing places to try. I personally recommend Mogo, which is a Korean taco restaurant. Brickwall Tavern is a fantastic pub as well.

Getting There

Asbury Park is accessible by car or mass transit. NJ Transit has many bus stops and a train station in town. The train station is located at Main Street, Asbury Park, NJ 07712 and is about a 30 minute walk to the boardwalk. Visit the NJ Transit Asbury Park station page for schedules.
