Photoshop CS5 Content Aware Fill great but not perfect

This video is showing how Adobe Photoshop CS5’s Content Aware fill works great but is not perfect.  After the live photo shoot a few weeks back I notice this tree behind Angela’s head.  I knew right away that the first thing I would do in CS5 was to remove the tree.  I decided to show everyone what happens when I use the Content Aware Fill.

Have you been using Photoshop CS5 and know a way for Content Aware Fill to make that work?  I’m curious if you’ve ran into the same problem.  Nothing is perfect but Photoshop CS5 is pretty darn close.

Thanks for reading and watching and happy shooting,

Scott

A little disappointing. Then again, the videos from adobe would never show a hint of a problem.

  2. Only disappointing if you expect it to be perfect.. I didn't. I knew it would be good but not perfect. Nothing is ever perfect. However I am still impressed because it already saves the user a lot of time. Thanks for commenting!

However, what you are experiencing with your CS5 is the exact same as what I experience with it as well. It does OK for some things, be it the spot heal tool, ect but like to take random parts of the image and combine them over the other area.

If you want to remove a crack in the road, or say a leaf out of a picture, it does a great job, however if you want to remove say the word STOP from a stop sign, it may remove it, but the gradients are all effed on the sign it self, so it takes a lot of work to go in and fix it, or if you want to remove a car from the road, it adds other parts of cars in or a building in the middle of the road where that part of the car was, ect.
