As I transition from the Panasonic GH5 to the Nikon D850 I am figuring out the ideal audio settings to use. The RODE Video Mic Pro is always on top of my camera as I record video. In this video, I go through what I believe will be the optimal settings for recording video with an external microphone.
So as it turns out, the best settings are to turn the pre-amp in the camera down as much as possible. For me, it’s at 4. Then, turn the mic up as much as possible. For the Video Mic Pro, it’s +20.
