I was reading the article Taking photos of dumpsters will improve your life by Dustin Senos and it got me rethinking about something I wrote a while back.

What do you notice when walking around town? Do you see the little details? The funny signs? The strange looking people? What do you see?

You see, I was walking around town one day and realized photography doesn’t have to be about anything specific. If you enjoy an art or craft, then make the best of what you have. Enjoy it and do it.

If you don’t do what you love, then move on.

It’s the little things in life that are the best. It’s the little things in design, in photographs, in typography and any other art.

Take Brian Gardner’s most recent web design, for example. Yes the entire website is amazing and elegant. However, it’s the little details that catch my attention.

Brian stylized the ShareDaddy plugin to match the new Genesis theme. Brilliant!

The little things

So when life kicks you in the butt and you’re feeling down, go for a walk. Look around and admire the little things in life like dumsters, trucks and laundromat lights.
