The Breakers

the-breakers

The Breakers is another mansion along the Cliff Walk in Newport, Rhode Island. This was my second favorite of the mansions, right under The Marble House.

Want some facts?

  • 70 rooms
  • 65,000 square feet of living space
  • Constructed between 1893 and 1895
  • Cost $12 million to build which is around $335 million today.

This is definitely another place to go visit if you’re in Rhode Island.

Thanks for reading and happy shooting,

Scott

Scott, I am from RI and share your love of Newport. Rosecliff is another Bellevue mansion where portions of The Great Gatsby (70’s) and True Lies (90′) were shot. I highly recommend touring it on your next trip. Also along Ocean Drive is the mansion where Claus von Bulow allegedly gave his wife the coma-inducing insulin shot overdose. There is so much history – and mystery about Newport. Next time, also go by Touro Park and see The Stone Mill, a mysterious structure that some believe was built by the Vikings. No one knows what it is or for what it was used and they have had archaeologists carbon test it to try and determine its origins. Cool things in Lil Rhody!
