The Fireworks That Were

fireworks-that-were

Yesterday I posted The Fireworks That Weren’t and today I want to share the opposite.  Make sure you read the beginning to this story so you’re in the loop.

That night I was shooting with the Leica M9 and Zeiss 25mm lens. That meant that my perspective of view was extremely wide.  No zoom meant dealing with what I was given.

So I decided to take a few steps back with my tripod.

I reframed the shot so that I could make use of the tents that were in the frame.  However, I also made use of the people underneath the tents.

Light is a beautiful thing.  Working with mixed lighting is something that I really enjoy as a photographer.  The idea that artificial and natural light can be controlled separately is so intriguing to me.

I feel as though this perspective and light adds so much to your average fireworks photograph.

What do you think?

Thanks for reading and happy shooting,

Scott

  1. Great shot of the fireworks. I think having the people in the picture looking up at them emphasizes how beautiful and interesting fireworks are.
