What’s Happening Outside

happening-outside

I love revisiting old photographs after a lot of time learning new post-processing techniques and being inspired by so many other great photographers.

This photograph was taken in 2010 at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Knowing I would be in a bunch of tiny jail cells, I used the Nikon D700 and 14-24mm lens.  My original goal was to capture the difference between a cell left untouched versus one that was converted into a museum display.

So when I revisited the photograph, I processed the cell do be dark and dreary while leaving the hallway and other cell bright and clear.

The process reminds me of when CSI Miami introduced CSI NY to television.  When Lt. Caine (Miami) was on screen, the light was bright and orange.  When Mac Taylor was on screen, the light was dark and blue.

Goal accomplished.

Thanks for reading and happy shooting,

Scott

  1. Wonderful shot, Scott. I like the processing choice you made on this nice contrast between the two areas.

This is a place I have been wanting to visit for some time.
