That Gentle Hand

gentle-hand

You wouldn’t think a 7/8 foot gorilla would look so gentle, but yet it does. I am not sure if this is a male or female because the gorilla was sleeping as I photographed this. The gorilla needs a manicure, don’t you think? The first finger at the top has a nail that’s getting a little out of control.

Zoo Photography Tip

With all the kids running around the zoo, putting their fingerprints on glass, and getting in the way, it is not easy to capture great photograph. What I recommend is trying different lenses, standing back or high up.

For this gorilla photo I was using the Nikon 70-300 VR II lens and got up high to see over the kids. I think that downward angle made really made the photo.

Thanks for reading and happy shooting,

Scott

Nice capture! The texture and POV is really cool.

Here’s a tip for the glass at the zoo – clorox or windex wipes :) Good for crudbusting kiddie fingerprints.
