Shooting with the opposite eye

Saturday night while Photowalking Washtington Street in Hoboken I was thinking about how most photographers, maybe even all photographers get so comfortable with the shooting style that they never switch it up.  For example, I am a lefty who had to learn to shoot as a righty since all cameras are basically for right handers.  However, I use my left eye to look through the viewfinder.  That night I decided to change it up a bit.  I shot the entire day with my right eye.  It was quite awkward but a lot of fun. You see things slightly different.  My results were uploaded to flickr. Click the photo to see the rest on Flickr.

Does anyone ever try this?  Tell me about it or post examples.

Thanks for reading.

That is an interesting experiment, I will try it on my next outing, But I would think at the end of the day you would have a hard time telling the difference in a right eye photo and a left eye photo. But, getting out of your comfort zone is the best way to learn something. Keep up the good work! – Tim

    Tim,

I agree, it will definitely be hard to tell the difference but it sure is a challenge and a lot of fun. Thanks for the comments!

My left eye is only half as good as my right one, so my nice zuiko lens would look like a holga all of a sudden… I’ll have to try it.
