Sellers beware of Longwood Industries

I listed my motorcycle a couple of weeks ago on Craigslist.  I did not put my phone number in the listing.  To contact me I lead people to my contact form on my website which also has my Google Voice number.

Two times now I’ve received a phone call from an ‘Unknown Caller’ which I never accept.  Both voice mails were from a guy at Longwood Industries.  Here is what was said:

“Hi my name is _________ and I am calling because I see your selling your vehicle. I work for Longwood Incorporated and the number here is 866-326-0950. The reason I’m calling is because we’re a 501(c)(3) company we match buyers and sellers of cars together and i think we have some people who are interested in your vehicle, so give me a call again my number is 866-326-0950 and my name is _______________. Have a great day”

After doing a quick search for the phone number on Google I found out about this lovely scam.

Please keep in mind that I did not list my cell phone number on the item listing and the phone number listed on the contact page of my website is a Google Voice number.  This means that if the person called my Google Voice phone number then my cell phone would ring with that number no matter what.   With that said, this guy some how found out my cell phone number to call me direct.

Word of the wise to everyone who sells on Craigslist or eBay.  Avoid this company no matter what
