Revealed – I Love You

Revealed is going to be a new series on my blog which I will tell the story behind the photo.  I am starting with my new photo “I Love You”

One day about a month ago it was snowing pretty heavily.  Melissa and I did not do anything all day but watch movies.  Eventually I went outside to clean off the cars so the snow does not freeze and make it harder to clean the next day.  While I was out there Melissa wrote I <3 You in the condensation on the glass door.  Interestingly she wrote it from left to right as you would normally so for me to read while outside it was backwards.  Funny, but true.

A few days ago I was sitting on my couch and the room suddenly lit up.  I turned around and the sunset was coming right through the glass and the words I <3 You glowed.  I knew that I had moments before the sun moved and the shot would be lost so instead of grabbing lights so I can exposure for the outside and inside.  I decided to do a quick HDR (hand held because my tripod was in the other room)  and it came out pretty sweet.

Considering that there was obvious shake due to hand holding during an HDR I did what I could in Photomatix to make the image not too overdone and then brought it into Lightroom for some final tweaks.  It’s not the best photo in the world and definitely not my best for sure but it’s a beautiful image that would not have been possible without my beautiful girlfriend.

    Hi Scott,
Not bad considering it was hand held and taken in a hurry. I really love the color contrast between the window and the open door!
    Cheers, Markus

Thanks for the comment Markus. It definitely isn’t easy in such a hurry but I’m happy with it and it is so much better than letting that go to waste.

    Scott
