Monochrome Deliciousness

contrast-monochrome

Monochrome is another term that describes a photograph with one color, or shade. For example, Black & White photographs are monochrome because they’re a shade a grey. Cyanotypes are monochrome because they’re all blue.

Monochrome photography is a lot of fun and makes a photographer really think, and visualize. Seeing the world in your head, in monochrome, is very difficult when you actually see the world in color.

This is where practice comes in to play.

If you want to study Black & White photography, the best thing you can do is go out and try it for yourself. I also recommend picking up some photography books to enhance the learning experience or joining the Udemy course from my friend David Nightingale called The Art of Black & White Photography.

My favorite software for monochrome conversion is Perfect B&W from onOne Software.

What have you done to study and practice your monochrome photography?

Thanks for reading and happy shooting,

Scott
