Getting The Crop Just Right

I used that title for 2 reasons. The first is that I was strawberry picking I took this photograph.

The second is because of the crop tool I used in Lightroom to reframe the shot.

This was captured using the Leica M9 and Zeiss 25mm lens. The downside to having just a wide angle lens on the Leica is for the obvious reason… everything is photographed wide.

Due to that reason, I am faced with the task of cropping various photographs. Now, being a guy who doesn’t usually crop because I’d rather frame in-camera, it’s a struggle I have to get past.

One day I’ll have more lenses for the M9, but until then, get the crop just right.

Thankfully, Lightroom has a fantastic grid overlay to help get the tree right where I needed it to be.

Thanks for reading and happy shooting,
Scott

note: this screenshot was even cropped – the image has A LOT more to it (I did say it was a 25mm lens!)
