My girlfriend is now running and teaching at a center for babies and toddlers for parents who can’t afford daycare, etc… She can use donations.  Please contact me through my site by clicking here (or through Twitter) if you are able to donate some things.  Every bit helps.

Hello friends and family,

As some of you may know, I accepted a new position as the Head Teacher/Supervisor of an Infant and Toddler Center in Perth Amboy, NJ. The company I work for takes over failing Head Start Programs and rebuilds them by finding better teachers, working out finances, making sure the health and safety procedures are followed etc. The company bought this center in Perth Amboy which is NOT Head Start but still was a struggling child care center that had previously lost licensing because they were not following the guidelines.

They hired me to get it up and running well. I was amazed when I first started a couple of days ago. The center is clean, the ladies that already work there are definitely taking good care of the children, but they are lacking some supplies that could really help!

The center accepts vouchers from Catholic Charities, TANF and other federal funding for needy families. This means that many of the mothers and fathers bringing their babies to this center are in need of many things. Some of them are in work programs and some are receiving federal aid. As of right now, the families must provide everything for their children on a weekly basis. Some families have trouble doing this. Our center is lacking many supplies and I know how many family members and friends have basements and attics full of infant and toddler supplies, toys, clothing etc.

If anyone has anything that could help these families or the babies that are in my center from 730-530 every day, please let me know. Pass this along to anyone who may have kids that grew out of their baby supplies and may want to donate.

Supplies that may be needed : toys for infants and for two year olds, musical instruments for babies like shakers, bells, soft drums etc., blocks, baby blankets(barely used/new),  clothing(barely used or new), diapers, wipes, snacks, cans of juice, baby food, snacks for the toddlers, plastic animal toys, play kitchen, any kind of dress up clothes, cars and trucks(not tiny), soft bouncy balls, crayons, markers, paints, construction paper, babydolls, ………..basically anything could be used to amuse a classroom full of two year olds or a classroom full of infants.

Please let me know if you would like to help. Please FWD to anyone

Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Melissa
