I’ll start off by saying that they are a lost cause. From the get go Circuit City has been overpriced and worthless for a place to purchase electronics. I purchased from Circuit City once when I saved money for my Onkyo receiver and they were the only store with it in stock. They actually had it for sale at the same price as everyone else which I was shocked at.
Over the weekend I saw that Circuit City not only put up an “I Wear Red For You” YouTube video which obviously is bull donkey since they wear red due to the fact that the company has a red logo and the red shirt goes along with it. Good try marketing team! Yes I linked to the YouTube video because it is funny, not because it works.
side note: The RED marketing campaign is already used for a good cause
I also noticed that Circuit City has a blog (good job following the trend, but it is needed don’t get me wrong) and a Twitter page. My compliments to the chef.
I get curious sometimes and decided to post on Twitter stating “@Circuit_City Advice… If you want to stay in the retail market you need to have decent prices” -link
To my surprise I got a response however it was pretty pathetic
“@scottwyden Can you tell me more about your experience?” -link
I decided to respond with a wise remark since I got a response that was an obvious ‘I don’t care’ type response.
I sent a direct message through twitter to Mr. Chuck S. at Circuit City but I do not think it went through since he is not following my Twitter account. However, this is what I said:
“Are you kidding? Have you seen your prices lately? Besides from the liquidated ones of course”
So please follow Chuck S. at Circuit City and send him your complaints as he is trying to resolve problems. Hopefully he can accomplish what Comcast Frank has done to renew some sort of customer satisfaction.
But don’t listen to me, I’m just ranting

Wow, how timely. Just this past weekend, they lost a sale on a Samsung 40" LCD at the Route 46 Store in NJ.
Sales guy told me, "oh, just last week, this was on sale for $200 less". I said, OK, so can you or your manager give it to me for the sale price that I missed by a day. They wouldn't budge $1 – if they didn't mention it, I wouldn't have known and may very well have purchased it. Oh well, Sears got the money – did price match from online store, +10% diff off, + $100 off for using Sears card, which I paid off already :-).
Good morning Scott:
Thanks for your post from earlier this morning. As you suspected, I didn’t receive your response indicated in the post above, and would still like to hear back on the specifics that led to your initial tweet (I am following you on Twitter now). If you need more than 140 characters, you can reach me at social@circuitcity.com – - I find it’s much easier to get into details when you don’t have to Twitter-ize feedback.
On Circuit City’s pricing, I’d encourage you to check into our Unbeatable Price Guarantee (http://is.gd/eM6y). If you found a current price on an in-stock item from a local competitor that’s lower than what you paid, you can get a refund on the difference. See the link for details – - I hope it can easily solve a problem, but let me know if it can’t.
Thanks also for the feedback on our I Wear Red 4U initiative. I’ll be the first to admit that Circuit City has lost its way in recent years, but through the commitment of our associates, we’re trying to regain the trust we once had. We’re very fortunate to have so many people working in our stores who continue to be inspired, and we wanted to give them a chance to tell their stories in their own words. You can see some of the individual videos at http://www.facebook.com/IWearRed4U and post comments about what we’re doing right (and what we need to do better).
Please stay in touch, let me know if I can help you with specific issues, and let me know how you think we’re improving.
Chuck S @ Circuit City
p.s. I also appreciate being mentioned in the same sentence as Comcast Frank. I don’t dare to presume that we’re as known/trusted as Frank’s work, but he does inspire our efforts.
Chuck,
I appreciate your response to my post.
Think about it. If you are selling an HD TV for $1400 when Best Buy is selling it for $900 the average person will just go to Best Buy rather then doing the whole price match thing. Why do and extra step when you can go straight to the source?
When I mean overpriced I mean overpriced: When a store is liquidating their items and have people standing out in the cold holding signs that say 70-90% off then I would expect the products to be better than other stores. I don't want to walk into a store that is being liquidated to find that the price is now MATCHED to the competitor at the discounted price. That's just dumb in my book.
Also, The I Wear Red 4 U campaign is still ridiculous. As I stated in my post Circuit City is trying really hard in their crappy marketing campaign as they actually wear red because it's the color of the companies logo. People don't fall for it anymore as they have changed and wised up. That campaign would have worked 10 years ago before people knew any better.
I'm not going to write up about any specifics that lead to my initial tweet because I already gave you the jist of things… Circuit City is overpriced

Joseph,
Glad to see I'm not alone in my rant.
Thanks for commenting!

Kelly,
I wouldn't say brilliant but yes the marketing people definitely did a good job of exploiting what they've had for years.
I know that people write bad reviews and feedback online and rarely write good ones. I see it first hand everyday working for Mack Camera.
My post is not meant for me to seem bitter. I'm just ranting a little. I'm just saying in brief that if they want to stay in business they need to work on their pricing. That's all.

I disagree about the I Wear Red 4 U campaign. I think it’s brilliant. Of COURSE they wear red because it’s the company color. But calling the campaign, ” I work for Circuit City 4 U just sounds silly. They just used the Red 4 U because it’s short and sweet. These people don’t HAVE to stay at Circuit City. They believe in the company and they’re trying to put the customer first. I recognize that there are always some bad eggs out there and I’ve heard all the bad stories – but surely you don’t believe that a few bad associates a bad company makes? This campaign shows that there are many more associates committed to helping you. I don’t know. I think you’re being unfair. Why so bitter?

Feb 08 I was shopping for the new Nikon D300. Lowest price around my south Jersey area, including the big gunds of Adorama, B&H was 1799.00 as it was brand new, and camera of the year in November 07. It was also out of stock at most places, locally and online.
So for Sh*ts and Giggles I call up Circuit City on the web and I found that their warehouse had THREE of them, on sale for 1649.00!! Holy Cow! I immediately placed my order — this was on Wednesday, February 13th, and I had it shipped to my Delaware address. Low and behold on my b-day, February 15th the package was there waiting for me!! I was to say the least SHOCKED as I've had nothing but problems with CC like forever. So, I guess it was the birthday fairies working their magic. I hadn't purchased ANYTHING at CC since November 8, 1990 (the day after my kid was born for a Camcorder), and I haven't been back since. I understand they are going out of business. Oh well.
