Photography Websites & The 2 Second Memory Test

Have you ever heard of the 2 Second Rule?

It’s basically the idea of making sure that website visitors know, within 2 seconds, that you’re a photographer and what type of photography services you offer.

I gave a presentation to a photography business class at Drexel University as part of my guest lecture.  In the presentation I talked about photography websites, branding, social media and more.

At one point I talked about the 2 second rule and how important it is.

I then played a fun game where I showed a photographer’s website for 2 seconds and then asked the class what type of photographer they were.

As you will see in the video below, the first photographer isn’t as obvious as the two others.

Did you guess right?

So now that you understand the 2 second rule and how to do the 2 second memory test, do it on your website.

Ask friends and family to look at your website for only 2 seconds to see if they can identify what type of photographer you are. Take it a step further and ask someone who has never been to your website.

Want me to do it? Comment with your website link and I’ll spent 2 seconds on your site and then reply to your comment here.

Thanks for reading,
Scott
